Income Diversification and Financial Performance: The Mediating Effect of Banks’ Size, Ownership Structure and the Financial Crisis in Vietnam

Research aims: This study focuses on the correlation between income diversification and financial performance, taking into account banks’ size type of ownership as well crisis.Design/Methodology/Approach: uses data 29 commercial banks in Vietnam during period from 2005 to 2018. research employs an Generalized Method Moments (GMM) regression.Research findings: The results do not find a statistical evidence direct effect their performance. However, when considering classification factors such bank’s ownership, findings show that big-scale state-owned can take advantages strategies boost profitability. Moreover, proves generates significantly positive performance time crisis.Theoretical contribution/ Originality: Theoretical contribution order provide relation with crisis.Practitioner/Policy implication: Further, this also contributes managerial for manager, policy-makers investors get sight good context unstable economy.Research limitation/Implication: limitations still exist research, as: (1) number participating sample is predictable limitation; (2) mainly focused variables but ignores representing manager’s behaviour organization structure; (3) future studies focus these aspects further explore hidden picture strategy banking
